Cape Pulmonology consists of a dedicated team of experienced pulmonologists with a wealth of experience and knowledge of health and the medical industry. Working alongside these pulmonologists includes the Head of the Division of Pulmonology, Professor Keertan Dheda.

Cape Pulmonology specializes in a wide range of lung conditions ranging from emphysema, COPD and asthma to unusual interstitial and infectious lung diseases. Cape Pulmonology is situated at the UCT Lung Institute and UCT Private academic Hospital. We have the services of a number of pulmonologists and specialised thoracic surgeons with the back up of a number of allied staff including critical care, renal, cardiology, neurology and gastro-enterology staff. Cape Pulmonology endorses all the allied professions such as physiotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy to maximize your respiratory outcomes.

Greg completed his undergraduate training at UCT in 2000 and after having spent a year at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, returned to the Cape to start his general physician training in 2003.

Greg Calligaro completed undergraduate degrees in Medicine and Physiology at the University of the Witwatersrand, and qualified as a specialist physician at the University of Cape Town in 2009.

Professor Keertan Dheda MBBCh (Wits), FCP(SA), FCCP, FRCP (Lond), PhD (Lond) is a Consultant Pulmonologist and Specialist Physician, and is also part of the critical care team that manages the UCT Private Academic Hospital (UCT PAH) ICU.

Professor Anthony Linegar is Head of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Cape Town’s Groote Schuur Hospital. His is an Affiliated Lecturer and Associate Professor of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein
Dr. Jonny Peter
Dr Jonathan Peter MB ChB, MMed, FCP (SA), PhD completed his undergraduate medical training in 2000 and qualified as a specialist physician in 2009, both at the University of Cape Town. He was the recipient of a number of awards for medical training including the 2009 Suzman medal, which is awarded by the College of Physicians to the best candidate in the final specialist exams nationally.
